The history of ancient India covers a long period which was that of the birth and the affirmation of certain characteristics specific to Indian culture and identity such as for example origin development and consolidation of the three great ancient indigenous religious traditions- Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism or the affirmation of the caste system subjects which give rise to a series of thematic deepenings.

By its rich iconography and its text of great clarity this work restores in a sumptuous portrait the beauty and the vitality of a country which does not cease enchanting the eyes the soul and the spirits.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Maria Angelillo holds a degree in Indology and a master's degree in Human Geography. She is also a graduate of ISIAO and the Landour Language School of Mussorie (Uttaranchal India) in the Hindi language which she teaches at the Universities of Gorizi and Macerata.

Author of a thesis on the Indian gipsy identity at the Faculty of Anthropological Sciences and Ethnology of the University of Milan Bicocca. she is a professor at the Faculty of Linguistic and Cultural Mediation of the Università degli Studi in Milan. Maria Angelillo also collaborates with various Yoga Centers and cultural institutions for the dissemination of Indian culture and civilization.
