ABOUT THE AUTHOR : Leon Chaitow (d. 2018) was well-known internationally as the author of over 60 books on natural heath and complementary medicine. He wrote authoritatively at many levels: from easy to understand guides for the general public on health issues and treatment approaches to detailed, well-referenced texts for health care students and practitioners and their clients. He also co-edited and contributed to numerous other important publications in the field of fascial dysfunction and its treatment, notably as co-editor of Fascia: The Tensional Network of the Human Body edited by Robert Schleip et al. Apart from his books Leon was the founding Editor and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies. He also acted as mentor, friend and advisor to many individuals at different stages of their career development in many fields of manual therapy always giving encouragement as well as wise and gentle criticism when appropriate. Leon Chaitow sadly died just a few weeks before the publication of the second edition of his book Fascial Dysfunction. Despite his serious ill-health during much of that year he continued to fulfil his writing obligations and only a couple of days before he died he approved the cover for the new edition.
