During his lifetime, he introduced the teachings of Yoga and Vedanta to the West. He is known for penning down translations of the Indian spiritual literature. In 1933, he laid down the foundation of the Ramakrishna Vivekananda center of New York and worked as its spiritual leader until his death.Dhan Gopal Mukerji is a lecturer and a prolific author. His other popular works include Gay Neck - The Story of a Pigeon, Layla Majnu, Caste and Outcaste, Sandhya, A Son of Mother India Answers, Visit India with Me, The Song of God, My Brothers Face, Devotional Passages from the Hindu Bible and many more. Born on 6th July 1890, he was among those earlier individuals who left India for America. He completed his education from the University of Calcutta in India, The University of California, Berkeley and Stanford and the University of Tokyo in Japan.
