The anthology Diaspora, Women and the Marginalized: Literary Perspectives has a collection of twenty papers by scholarly authors who have discussed various issues pertaining to the diaspora life. Apart from diasporic issues, this book deals with some more issues such as gender studies and marginalization.

The first paper of the anthology is “Literary Creations by Indian Diaspora- A Platform for incredible India in Global Perspective” by Dr. Shikha Saxena. Here Dr. Saxena shows how the 21stcentury has opened a wide door for Indian citizens to avail global opportunities in education, business and various jobs; and discusses how ‘Literary Creations’ by Indian Diaspora have created a feeling of “Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam” by reducing the geographical boundaries.

In the 2nd paper “A Quest for Identity in V.S. Naipaul’s A House for Mr. Biswas” Prof. (Dr.) Vidushi Sharma highlights how man’s strong desire for independence and rebellion enables him overcome the feeling of disintegration on the diaspora and help him become a hero.

The 3rd paper “Refugee Diaspora: A Study of Ritwik Ghatak’s Partition Cinema” by Dr. Mahuya Bhaumik discusses the multi-layered issues related to partition and their impact on the lives of refugee diaspora.

In “Diasporic Testimonio- An Overview”, Mr. L. Santhosh Kumar emphasises that Diaspora as a theoretical discourse paves way for so many theories and Diasporic Testimonio blurs the binaries and exposes the hidden voices.

In “Displacement and Dilemma of Personal Relations in the Novels of Bharati Mukherjee”, Dr. Beena Agarwal investigates the fragmentation existing in the life of immigrants and their desperate search to relocate themselves with the bonding of personal relations and cultural shifts essentially affecting the dynamics of personal relations.

The 6th paper “A Study of Uprootedness and Identity Claustrophobia in the Novel- The Shadow Lines by Amitav Ghosh” by Dr. Meetu Bhatia Kapur and Dr. Shilpi Gupta gives a beautiful understanding of post modern sociopolitical culture with utmost sensitivity and sensibility.

In the 7th paper “Gender and Migration: Social, Psychological and Cultural Determinants of A Migrant Woman in Bharati Mukherjee’s Jasmine” Ms. Nagma and Dr. Mayur Chhikara highlight how migration becomes a platform for the development of a social, psychological and cultural life of a migrant.

Dr. Meenu Dudeja in “Diaspora and Literary Issues” discusses the role of literature in describing diaspora and the role of diaspora literature in the present era, the major issues of cultural dislocation, multiculturalism, struggle for identity and belongings.

The 9th paper “Indian Diaspora: Issues and Challenges” by Dr. Suchi Diwan and Dr. Sonia Bhardwaj highlights the writers of Indian diaspora, and how they deal with the issues and challenges concerned with the Indian Diaspora and how through their literary contributions they have greatly enriched English literature.

Dr. Suruchi Sharma’s 10th paper titled “Predicament of Women in Khaled Hosseini’s A Thousand Splendid Suns” tries to explore the oppression, suppression and exploitation of two Afghan women- Mariam and Laila.

11th paper titled “Corrupt Political System as Reflected in V.S. Naipaul’s The Suffrage of Elvira” reminds us the poor and frail democratic system in V.S. Naipaul’s The Suffrage of Elvira. In “A.K Ramanujan: A Poet of the Diaspora and an Eco Critic”, Ms. Rashmi Maniyar analyses and proves that A.K. Ramanujan’s poetry are not just stringed together by ‘Indianness’ but also by a global eco sensitive perspective.
