It is doubtless more important to change history than to write it, just as it would be better to do something about the weather rather than merely talk about it. In a free parliamentary democracy every citizen is supposed to feel that he, personally is making history when he elects representatives to do the talking and to tax him for the privilege. Some have now begun to suspect that this may not suffice; that all history may terminate abruptly with the atomic age unless a bit more is done soon.
Culture has great influence on individual value framework. It is a set of traditional belief and values that are transmitted and shared in a given society. Culture is also the total way of life and thinking patterns, speech action and artifacts that are passed from generation to generation. However, this is dependent on the man's capacity for learning and transmitting knowledge.
I should like to take this opportunity to thank a number of people. First and foremost, I should like to thank students on the culture and civilization and would like to thank with whom I have studied many of the readings collected here. I also wish to thanks colleagues both in the media and culture studies for their encouragement and support. This book may have to originality rests on fieldwork done as a free agent. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Romesh T. Kunba, an independent Consultant to Colleges and Universities and a former faculty member has retired from the teaching profession in 2005. Started his teaching career as an Assistant Professor of Education; he has been actively engaged in teaching and research for the past two decades. He has also worked with several research projects and development programmes.
An honorary member in the advisory board of various professional institutions, he has in-depth knowledge of the modern trends in higher education and provides valuable suggestions to Universities and Colleges to confront the new challenges. Academic bodies have honoured her for his outstanding contributions to the field of higher education. He has extensively travelled abroad and has participated in many International and National Conferences.
